SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 10, 2013 – ShoreTel® (NASDAQ: SHOR), the leading provider of brilliantly simple unified communications platforms including business phone systems, applications and mobile UC solutions, has positioned itself in Mexico as one of the top players in the education sector, where ShoreTel started working about three years ago.
Due to the natural dynamic interaction between teachers and administrative staff, unified communications (UC) bring great benefits to educational institutions, including better relations and collaboration among colleagues, consultation, as well as important savings.
According to Rafael Fernandez, area manager for ShoreTel in Latin America, today's new communication trends are geared towards the accessibility of workgroups, which means more clarity in the availability of resources and efficiency in communication management.
"Universities and high schools are also immersed in these new rules that are governing the business world, where mobility is and will remain a growing factor, in addition to the challenges of BYOD (Bring your Own Device),” Fernandez said. “Therefore, unified communications become relevant in the campus, allowing teachers and administrators to move around the institution and at the same time always be available."
The high collaboration levels that result from the implementation of such solutions is one of the added values that ShoreTel has conveyed to Information Technology managers from different schools across Mexico. Today, over 15 intermediate to upper level educational institutions, both public and private, are using ShoreTel solutions for their daily operations.
"Although we have institutions as customers throughout the country – such as the Autonomous University of Yucatan – for us Guadalajara stands out in this segment and is the city where we have obtained impressive adoption from the University of Guadalajara and the University of Specialties,” added Fernandez. “Undoubtedly this has to do with the progress of the city's technological infrastructure in addition to the distinctive features of our offer, which provides educational institutions with a competitive advantage over traditional ways of communication as well as significant cost savings."
Juan Antonio Herrera, CIO of Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, said: “The experience with ShoreTel has been very productive, since it has allowed us to grow in a modular way, unlike other brands. ShoreTel provides us with compatibility and an easy integration in coexistence with other IP telephony systems already in the institution. With ShoreTel we have a significant savings in time, integration of technology and management."
ShoreTel plans to continue growing its customer base in Mexico, including strengthening its alliance with specialized channels and generating a plan to approach government authorities at every level.
